We are located just minutes from the Jersey shore beaches at 4102 Central Avenue, Sea Isle City. Our church is in close proximity to area hotels and restaurants. For driving directions to our church view the map.
What should I expect When I enter your church building?
If you enter through our Sanctuary’s narthex doors for a worship service our greeters and ushers will welcome you and provide assistance as you settle in to celebrate and worship our God. We want you to feel at home at Sea Isle City United Methodist Church so if you have questions or need assistance just ask and someone will help you.
How do people dress for your worship service?
When you arrive for worship on any Sunday morning you will find that some men are dressed in suits and ties while others may be wearing shorts and polo shirts. Women are wearing beautiful dresses or perhaps something casual that fits the day that lies ahead for them. Some people are on their way to work and others perhaps have just completed their work shift. Children come in a wide array of clothing styles. You should come to worship as yourself and however you feel most comfortable. There is a wonderful praise song by Brian Doerksen entitled, “Come, Now is the Time to Worship.” One of the verses says, “Come, just as you are before your God, come.” The important thing to us at Sea Isle City UMC is that we are here to worship God; it doesn’t matter where you come from, what you look like; or what you wear.
Are there opportunities for me to become involved?
There are plenty of ways for you to get connected; it all depends on what you are looking for. If you are looking for a church home we know that there’s a place for you here at Sea Isle City United Methodist Church.
How do I join the church?
Although we do not require anyone who worships with us regularly to officially join the church, many who begin worshiping with us feel God’s call to them to take this step up in faith by becoming members. We continue to celebrate the reality that we are a growing church with many people who begin worshipping with us later taking a step into membership. We are a United Methodist Church so it is important to us that all of our members have a basic understanding of what it means to be United Methodist. In addition, membership is a testimony to one’s belief in Jesus Christ and a time to renew the vows that were given at baptism. Membership classes are scheduled throughout the year and are led by all of our pastors usually on three consecutive Sunday mornings. The classes allow each new member to get to know their pastor better, gain insight into United Methodist traditions, discover the various ministries of our church that are supported by the volunteer service of church members, and to share their own personal faith journeys. Once the classes are completed, there is a celebration of new membership held during a Sunday morning worship service. Individuals or families who are already members of another United Methodist Church but who are interested in joining our church should speak to our pastor about transferring your membership. Although participation in the new membership classes is not required for those who are already United Methodists, they are encouraged to attend the classes to get to know the pastor and to learn about the opportunities our church offers.
Periodically we have Membership Classes. If you are interested in joining the church, see Pastor Melissa or give her a call and she will schedule a time to share with you how to make this happen.
